    Essential Budget Premium is $11.99/month and is billed by Paddle, our
    Merchant of Record. Your subscription renews automatically each
    month unless you cancel. You can cancel any time in your account
    settings, and you'll keep Premium access until the end of the
    current billing period. We don't offer partial refunds for unused
    time, except in cases of billing error, service access issues on our
    side, or where required by law.
    Plans, features, and limits are subject to change.

    All purchases for our service are securely processed by <strong>Paddle</strong> acting as the <em>Merchant of Record (MoR)</em>.
    This policy outlines how refunds and cancellations are handled when purchasing a subscription through Paddle.

    By subscribing, you agree to this Refund & Cancellation Policy in addition to our

    <a href="/privacy-policy/">Privacy Policy</a>.

    Paddle is the authorized Merchant of Record for all transactions.
    All charges and any approved refunds are executed via Paddle to the original payment method, following Paddle's Buyer Terms:

    We offer two plan types:
  </p>
  <ul>
    <li>
      <strong>Free Tier</strong>: Includes Up to 3 budget creations per month, theming (BYOAI or manual), AI Budget Generation and Reconciliation (Bring Your Own AI), Categories & Subcategories, Drag-and-Drop Planner with Grid & Calendar Views, Export to CSV or Excel, Dynamic Charts by Period and Date Range, Real-Time Updates, and up to 5 years of transaction history.
    </li>
    <li>
      <strong>Premium Plan</strong>: Paid subscription that includes: All Free features plus up to 10 budget creations per month, AI Budget Generation and Reconciliation (Integrated AI), AI theme generation and publishing, Bank Account Linking, Public Budget Creation, and Shared Budgets with up to 5 people.
    </li>
    <li>
      <strong>Icon Generation Credits</strong>: One-time purchase for AI-powered icon generation. Generated sets may be published to the Community under CC0, which removes them from your private library. Credits expire 90 days from purchase.
    </li>
  </ul>
  <p

    Budget creation limits reset monthly. Deleting a budget frees up a creation slot.
  </p>
  <p
  >
    The Premium Plan provides access to integrated AI-powered functionality, which generates real processing costs each time it's used.
  </p>

    4. Cancellation Policy
  </h2>
  <ul>
    <li>You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support.</li>
    <li>Cancellations take effect at the <strong>end of the current billing period</strong>.</li>
    <li>When you cancel, you will continue to have access to Premium features until the billing period ends.</li>
    <li>To avoid renewal, cancellation requests should be made <strong>at least 48 hours before</strong> your next billing date.</li>
    <li>If you delete your account, your subscription is automatically cancelled and you will not be charged further. No partial refunds are issued for unused time.</li>
  </ul>

    We do <strong>not</strong> provide refunds or credits for any unused time remaining in a subscription once a billing period has begun.

    General Rule

    All sales are final once a billing period begins.
    We do <strong>not</strong> offer partial, prorated, or "money-back" refunds for unused portions of a subscription term.

    Refunds are only considered in limited cases where:

  <ul>
    <li>A <strong>billing error</strong> or <strong>duplicate charge</strong> occurred;</li>
    <li>A <strong>technical issue</strong> on our end prevented service access; or</li>
    <li>Required by applicable consumer law or at Paddle's discretion.</li>
  </ul>

    Because Premium access is delivered and usable immediately upon payment, you acknowledge that digital content begins immediately, and the statutory right of withdrawal (where applicable) ends once service usage begins.

    6. Usage-Based Services & AI Credits

  <p

    The <strong>Premium Plan</strong> and <strong>Icon Generation Credits</strong> include AI processing and usage-based features that incur <strong>real infrastructure and compute costs</strong>.
    As such:
  </p>
  <ul>
    <li>Refunds are <strong>not provided</strong> for consumed AI usage, tokens, or credits.</li>
    <li>Once AI processing or generation has occurred, the cost is non-reversible and non-refundable.</li>
    <li>The <strong>Free Tier</strong> does not include integrated AI processing charges and therefore falls outside this clause.</li>
    <li>Downgrading from Premium to Free does <strong>not</strong> result in any refund or credit for unused time or usage capacity.</li>
    <li><strong>Icon Generation Credits</strong> expire 90 days from purchase. Unused credits are forfeited upon expiration and are non-refundable.</li>
  </ul>

    To request a refund in the exceptional cases described above, contact <strong>billing@eb.app</strong> and include:

    <li>Your full name and the email address used for purchase</li>
    <li>Paddle transaction ID or order number</li>
    <li>Date of purchase and a brief explanation of the issue</li>
  </ol>
  <p

    We review all refund requests carefully and aim to respond within <strong>7 business days</strong>.
    If a refund is approved, it will be processed through Paddle to the original payment method.
    Refunds may take <strong>3–5 business days</strong> to appear, depending on your payment provider.

    We do <strong>not</strong> offer a money-back or satisfaction guarantee.
    Our service (including AI features) is delivered immediately upon payment, and continued use constitutes acceptance of the current billing term.
    This policy protects against refund abuse and ensures fairness to all users by preventing excessive usage followed by refund claims.

    Please contact us before initiating a chargeback with your payment provider.
    Since Paddle serves as the Merchant of Record, chargebacks are handled directly by Paddle per their established procedures.

    Excessive or unfounded chargebacks may result in account suspension or denial of future service.

    <li>Refunds (when granted) are issued <strong>net of any unrecoverable processing or transaction fees</strong> charged by Paddle.</li>
    <li>Applicable U.S. state and local sales taxes are automatically handled by Paddle.</li>
