At EB App LLC, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use EB.app.

1. Our Privacy Commitment

We believe in:

  • Minimal data collection - We only collect what's necessary
  • Your control - You own and control your budget data
  • No tracking - We don't use analytics or advertising
  • Transparency - We're clear about our practices

2. Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect:

  • Email address - For account creation and communication
  • Name - From your Google account profile
  • Avatar/Profile picture - From your Google account profile

We don't collect your phone number or any other personal details beyond what Google provides during authentication.

Budget Data

  • All budget information you enter (income, expenses, categories, etc.)
  • AI-generated budget data and processing sessions (premium users only, when AI is enabled)
  • AI preferences and settings
  • Transaction resolution status (which items you've marked as paid)

We explicitly do NOT collect or store:

  • Bank account numbers or routing numbers
  • Bank login credentials
  • Complete bank statements
  • Raw transaction data from your bank
  • Credit card numbers

This data is yours and only used to provide our budgeting service.

3. Information Collected by Third Parties

Firebase (Google LLC)

We use Firebase to operate our service. Firebase automatically collects:

  • IP addresses
  • Browser and device information
  • Authentication data
  • Application identifiers and technical metadata
  • Usage logs

This information is automatically collected by Google LLC to provide hosting and application services.

AI Services (Premium Users Only)

If you subscribe to our premium features ($9.99/month), your budget data may be processed by third-party AI services to provide integrated AI assistance:

  • Google AI (Gemini) for natural language budget assistance
  • AI features are enabled by default for premium users but can be disabled in settings
  • AI services are only utilized when the AI feature is enabled in your settings
  • You maintain full control over whether your data is processed by AI services

Important: Free users utilizing our "Bring Your Own AI" feature maintain complete privacy - your data never leaves our servers to reach AI services.

Premium users consent to this AI processing when upgrading. You can downgrade to free at any time to stop AI data processing.

4. How We Use Your Information

Your Email

We use your email to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Send essential account security emails (email verification, password resets, email change confirmations)
  • Send security alerts
  • Notify you of Terms or Privacy Policy updates
  • Send optional service updates (new features, maintenance notices)

Your Budget Data

  • Display and calculate your budgets
  • Generate reports and forecasts
  • Enable data export
  • Provide customer support (only when you request it)

We NEVER:

  • Sell your data
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Access your budget data without your explicit request
  • Share data between users
  • Share free users' data with third parties (except Firebase for hosting)

Note for Premium Users: Your budget data is processed by Google AI services to provide integrated AI assistance features when AI is enabled. AI is turned on by default for premium subscribers but can be disabled at any time in your user settings. When disabled, your data will not be sent to any AI services.

5. Data Storage and Security

Where We Store Data

  • All data is stored in the United States using Google Firebase
  • We use Firebase Auth, Firestore, and Hosting services

Device Storage

Important: Your budget data (income, expenses, transactions) is never stored on your device for enhanced security.

  • Budget data: Never stored on your device - only in secure cloud storage
  • When app closes: All budget data is removed from device memory
  • Enhanced security: If your device is lost or compromised, your budget data remains safe
  • Privacy by design: Financial information never persists on your device
  • Cloud-first architecture: Data exists only in memory while you're using the app

How We Protect Data

  • SSL encryption for all data transmission
  • Encryption at rest for all stored data
  • Two-factor authentication available
  • Regular security updates
  • Secure session management

Data Retention

  • Active accounts: Data retained while account is active
  • Inactive accounts: Automatically deleted after 1 year of inactivity
  • Deleted accounts: Budget data and AI sessions deleted within 24 hours
  • AI processing sessions: Automatically deleted 30 days after last activity
  • AI usage metrics: Aggregated and anonymized after 30 days
  • Support records: May be retained longer for legal compliance

6. Your Rights and Controls

Access Your Data

You can:

  • View all your data in the app
  • Export your data as JSON or CSV anytime

Update Your Data

  • Modify your budget data anytime in the app
  • Update your email in account settings

Delete Your Data

  • Delete specific budget entries in the app
  • Delete your entire account through settings or by emailing us
  • Complete deletion occurs within 24 hours

Communication Preferences

  • Opt out of non-essential emails in account settings
  • Essential security and account emails (verification, password resets) are automatically sent by Firebase and cannot be disabled

7. Local Device Storage

Important: Your budget data (income, expenses, transactions) is never stored on your device.

We only store on your device:

  • App preferences (theme, menu settings, column layouts)
  • Authentication tokens for login sessions
  • Technical cookies for app functionality

All budget data exists only in secure cloud storage and temporarily in device memory while the app is running.

We don't use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

8. Third-Party Services

Google Cloud Services

We use various Google Cloud services to host, process, and secure data within our product. These services may include infrastructure, database, AI/machine learning, and image processing capabilities. All Google Cloud services are provided by Google LLC and are subject to the Google Cloud Privacy Notice: https://cloud.google.com/terms/cloud-privacy-notice

Google Cloud services automatically handle certain functions like sending essential account emails (verification, password resets) on our behalf. These services may collect technical information as described in their privacy policies. We've configured these services to minimize data collection where possible.

App Stores

If you use our mobile apps, Apple or Google may collect information according to their privacy policies. We don't receive this data.

Payment Processing

Premium subscriptions ($9.99/month) are processed through:

  • Google Play Store or Apple App Store for mobile users
  • Stripe for web users

We don't directly process or store payment card information. Payment processors handle all sensitive payment data according to their privacy policies.

AI Services

For Free Users ("Bring Your Own AI"):

  • Your data never leaves your device when using copy-prompt
  • We don't see or store your AI conversations
  • Complete privacy - no data sharing with AI providers through us

For Premium Users (Integrated AI):

  • AI is enabled by default but can be disabled in your settings
  • When AI is enabled, conversations are processed through Google AI services
  • Chat sessions are stored in Firestore for continuity (when AI is enabled)
  • AI providers process data according to their privacy policies
  • We implement rate limiting and token management for cost control
  • Session data is deleted 30 days after last activity
  • Disabling AI stops all data sharing with AI services immediately

Bank Statement Analysis (Premium Feature)

IMPORTANT: We NEVER connect directly to your bank accounts. The bank statement analysis feature works differently.

How Bank Statement Analysis Works:

  • You manually upload a PDF/image or paste/copy transaction text
  • AI analyzes the data temporarily to identify and match transactions
  • Your planner items are matched with bank transactions using AI
  • Schedule discrepancies are detected (amount/date/frequency changes)
  • Suggested matches and schedule updates are presented for your review
  • You approve which transactions to mark as resolved in your planner
  • The uploaded/pasted data is IMMEDIATELY deleted after processing
  • We do NOT store your bank statements or raw transaction data
  • Only your decisions to mark items as resolved or update schedules are saved

Data Security for Bank Statements:

  • Statements are processed in memory only - never saved to disk
  • All processing happens over encrypted connections (TLS 1.3)
  • AI providers receive only transaction text, not full statements
  • No personally identifiable information (PII) is extracted or stored
  • Account numbers are automatically redacted before AI processing
  • No processing logs are created or stored for bank statement analysis
  • The feature operates entirely in memory with no persistent logging

9. Children's Privacy

EB.app is not intended for children under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If we discover a child has created an account, we'll delete it immediately.

10. Geographic Availability and International Users

EB.app is currently available to users accessing the service from within the United States while we complete legal and regulatory compliance review for additional regions. We plan to expand internationally in the future.

All data is stored in the United States. By using EB.app, you consent to data transfer to and storage in the United States. We apply the same privacy protections to all users regardless of location.

CCPA Rights (California Users)

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect
  • Access your personal information
  • Request deletion
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights
  • Opt-out of data sales (we never sell data)
