Terms of Service

Effective Date: December 31, 2025

Welcome to EB.app! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our personal budgeting platform operated by EB App LLC ("we," "us," "our").

Governing Documents: These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy and Billing Policy. The Privacy Policy governs data handling; these Terms govern service use.

1. Definitions

  • "Service" – EB.app application (eb.app, my.eb.app, mobile apps)
  • "Budget Data" – Financial information you enter (income, expenses, categories, AI-derived data)
  • "Offers" – In-app affiliate recommendations (free-tier only); see Section 8
  • "Authorized Financial Account Holder" – Person legally authorized to grant read-only access to a financial account via Plaid
  • "Community Features" – Interactive areas where users share content publicly (Public Budgets, Themes, Icon Sets)

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using EB.app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use our service.

Eligibility: You must be 18 years or older. Accounts used by anyone under 18 will be closed and data deleted.

3. Service Features

What We Provide

EB.app is a personal budgeting tool that helps you:

  • Track income and expenses
  • Create budgets and forecasts
  • AI-assisted budget creation
  • View financial data through charts and reports
  • Export data in JSON or CSV formats

Free Tier

  • Budget Creation: Up to 3 per month
  • AI Budget Creation: Bring Your Own AI (local processing)
  • Bank Linking: Not available
  • Charts & History: Future-looking only
  • Public Budgets: Not available
  • Shared Budgets: Not available
  • Offers Tab: Visible by default

Premium ($11.99/month)

  • Budget Creation: Up to 10 per month
  • AI Budget Creation: Integrated (Plaid or file upload)
  • Bank Linking: Available via Plaid
  • Charts & History: Historical and future
  • Public Budgets: Shareable via link (read-only, unlimited viewers)
  • Shared Budgets: Invite up to 5 others with permissions
  • Offers Tab: Hidden by default (enable in Settings)
  • AI theme generation and publishing
  • First-time subscribers receive complimentary icon generation credits

Icon Generation Credits ($9.99 one-time)

  • One-time purchase for AI-generated icons (~100 icons)
  • Available to both Free and Premium users
  • Credits expire 90 days from purchase

Budget creation limits reset monthly. Deleting a budget frees up a creation slot.

What We Do Not Provide

We do not provide financial advice, investment guidance, or tax advice. EB.app is a budgeting tool only. All financial decisions are your sole responsibility. AI responses may contain errors—always verify before acting.

4. Pricing and Payment

Free tier: Core budgeting features free forever (budgets, accounts, planner, dashboard, Bring Your Own AI, data export).

Premium: $11.99 USD/month. Includes integrated AI, bank linking, advanced charts, history tracking.

Payment Processing: All payments handled by our Merchant of Record, Paddle, who is responsible for payment processing, tax remittance, invoicing, and refunds. By purchasing, you agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms and Privacy Policy. We receive only your name, subscription status, and transaction ID.

Cancellation & Refunds: Contact billing@eb.app or use the Paddle customer portal link in your receipt. See our Billing Policy for details.

5. Your Account

Authentication & Security

Your account is created via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for securing your Google credentials, all activity under your account, and notifying us immediately of unauthorized access at team@eb.app.

We strongly recommend enabling Google's 2-Step Verification for enhanced security.

Individual Use

Your account is for individual use only. Do not share login credentials. For joint budget management, use the "Budget Sharing" feature to invite others with their own accounts.

Bank Account Linking

If you use bank linking features (Plaid), you represent that you are an Authorized Financial Account Holder for each account linked. You may not link accounts you don't own or lack authority to access. Unauthorized access may violate laws and your bank's terms.

We do not control Plaid's services and are not responsible for temporary service outages, connection failures, or disconnections related to Plaid or supported financial institutions. Some institutions may have limited support or require periodic re-authentication.

Account Deletion

Delete your account via Settings or by emailing team@eb.app.

  • Data deleted from active systems within 72 hours
  • May persist in encrypted backups up to 90 days
  • Shared budgets with other owners remain accessible to those owners
  • Active subscriptions are automatically cancelled
  • Audit logs (e.g., consent records) retained for legal compliance
  • This process is irreversible

Inactivity

Accounts inactive for 12 months (without active subscription) may be deleted. We'll email you before deletion.

6. Privacy and Data

  • You own your Budget Data
  • We access data only when you request support
  • We never sell your personal data
  • Premium AI features process data via Google AI (Gemini API)

7. AI Features

Free Tier: Bring Your Own AI

We provide structured prompts and JSON import capability. Your data is processed locally—you control what you share with external AI providers. You're responsible for complying with their terms.

Premium: Integrated AI

Automatic budget generation from uploaded bank statements or connected Plaid accounts. Data is processed via Google AI (Gemini API) as described in our Privacy Policy.

Fair Use: Your subscription includes generous AI processing for typical personal budgeting. Usage resets monthly. We reserve the right to manage excessive usage.

Control: AI features can be disabled in Settings. When disabled, no data is sent to Google AI.

AI Usage Guidelines

  • Use AI only for budget-related tasks
  • Don't share sensitive info (SSN, passwords)
  • Verify AI-generated budgets and transaction matches before saving
  • Report errors or inappropriate responses

AI DISCLAIMER:

  • AI responses may contain errors
  • Transaction matching may be incorrect—always verify
  • We are not liable for losses from AI suggestions
  • You are responsible for all financial decisions

8. Affiliate Offers (Free Tier Only)

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

How Offers Work

  • The Offers tab displays affiliate recommendations (free-tier only; premium users have it hidden by default)
  • Offers are matched using in-app analysis of your Budget Data—your data is not shared with Amazon
  • Optional "Try AI Analysis" sends a budget summary (not transaction history) to Google AI for personalized recommendations—requires explicit confirmation
  • When you click an affiliate link, you leave EB.app and Amazon's terms/privacy apply

No Endorsement

Display of an offer is not an endorsement. We do not guarantee product quality, verify advertiser claims, or advise whether any offer suits your situation. Match percentages are informational, not financial advice.

Your Responsibility

Before acting on any offer:

  • Read the advertiser's terms and disclosures
  • Verify rates and terms directly with the advertiser
  • Consider if the product suits your financial situation
  • Consult qualified professionals if needed

9. Acceptable Use

You agree to use EB.app only for personal budgeting. You will not:

  • Use our service for commercial purposes
  • Share, sell, or distribute account access
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or harm our service
  • Upload malicious content or code
  • Violate any laws or impersonate others
  • Use our service for money laundering or illegal activities
  • Abuse platform features or reporting systems

Violation may result in immediate account termination.

10. Our Intellectual Property

Our Property

We own all rights to the EB.app platform, software, logos, trademarks, code, design, and functionality.

Your License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use our service for personal budgeting. This license ends if you violate these Terms.

11. User-Generated Content & Community

Your Budget Data

You retain ownership of your financial data. You grant us permission to store and process it solely to provide our service.

AI-Generated Assets (Icons & Themes)

The Service provides AI tools to generate custom icons and themes ("Generated Content"). External image uploads are not supported.

  • Theme Generation: Free users may generate themes using Bring Your Own AI or manual configuration (no publishing). Premium users may use integrated AI and publish themes (up to 100 per billing cycle). Published themes are CC0, irreversible, and removed from your private library.
  • Icon Generation: Requires Icon Generation Credits due to moderation costs. Not available via Bring Your Own AI. First-time Premium subscribers receive complimentary credits.
  • Private Use: Generated Content in your private account remains yours. You may download and export it for personal use outside the Service.
  • Public Sharing (CC0): Publishing Generated Content to the Community dedicates it to the Public Domain (CC0 1.0) and removes it from your private library. Others may use, copy, download, and modify it freely.
  • Permanence: Publishing to the Community is permanent and irrevocable. Content remains associated with your profile while your account is active. Upon account deletion, content remains in the Community but is anonymized.

Public & Shared Budgets (Premium)

Public and Shared Budgets are Premium features.

  • Share budgets privately with up to 5 people (6 total including you)
  • Invited users may be on Free or Premium tiers
  • You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute shared content on the Service
  • Users who access your shared content may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes only—no redistribution or resale

Prohibited Content

You agree not to create or share content that:

  • Depicts sexual content, nudity, or violence
  • Contains hate speech, harassment, or promotes illegal acts
  • Intentionally recreates copyrighted or trademarked characters
  • Violates our AI partners' content policies (Google Cloud)

Moderation

We use AI moderation (Google Cloud Natural Language and Vision APIs) to filter content. We may remove any content at any time without notice.

12. Disclaimers and Limitations

No Warranties

EB.app is provided "AS IS" without warranties. We don't guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • Accuracy of calculations (verify important figures)
  • Suitability for your specific needs
  • Complete security (though we implement industry standards)

Community Content

  • Community content may reflect personal opinions—it's not financial advice
  • We don't verify accuracy or safety of user-generated templates—use at your own risk
  • Privately shared budgets are not reviewed by AI prior to access

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our total liability is limited to amounts you've paid us in the past month
  • We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • We're not liable for lost profits, data loss, or decisions based on our tool
  • We're not liable for AI errors, incorrect transaction matching, or budget calculations
  • We're not liable for losses from products obtained through affiliate links
  • We're not liable for disputes with advertisers or third parties

Exceptions: These limitations don't apply to liability we can't legally exclude (gross negligence, willful misconduct).

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims arising from:

  • Your use of our service or violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of laws or third-party rights
  • False or misleading information you provide
  • Your interactions with advertisers or third parties reached through affiliate links

13. Copyright Infringement (DMCA)

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyright has been infringed on our Service, send a notice to legal@eb.app.

14. Service Availability

We strive for 99.9% uptime but don't guarantee it. We may perform maintenance, update features, or experience outages. We'll provide advance notice when possible.

Discontinuation: If we discontinue the Service, we'll provide at least 30 days' notice to allow data export. All data will then be deleted per our Privacy Policy.

15. Geographic Availability and Governing Law

Our Service is hosted in the United States and intended for U.S. residents. By using the Service, you consent to data processing in the U.S. as described in our Privacy Policy.

Governing Law: These Terms are governed by Wyoming law, excluding conflict of law principles.

Arbitration: You agree that disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, not court proceedings. Exceptions: small claims court and injunctive relief for intellectual property violations.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do:

  • We'll update the "Effective Date"
  • Updated Terms will be posted at eb.app/terms-of-service
  • For material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app notice
  • Continued use means acceptance of new Terms
